Zelensky outlines agenda for meeting with Putin
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the issues raised during a meeting with Vladimir Putin would, at this point in time, be prisoner exchange, de-occupation, and an end to the war
He shared his views in an interview during the telethon.
"It depends on the moment when we meet. The purpose is changing. As it is a hybrid war and peace there will be hybrid and hybrid meetings," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
If the meeting were to take place now, we would discuss Mariupol, in a few months that will have changed. The purpose of the talks depends on the situation in Ukraine.
"We can anticipate what we will do and what will be the outcome, but to look to the future, it is certainly not the reality. The reality we have today is here, so we will decide on the exchange, de-occupation and peace, end of war. That's it for the agenda," he said.
The purpose was the same at the beginning of full-scale war, but not so specific. Ukrainian authorities understand threats and risks, it depends on many things, but many things depend on Russia.
"Without talking to them, we must then state simply the result which we have," he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine wants to return territories and to end the war, but how and when will depend on the time of the conversation with Vladimir Putin.
"I think that the conversation between Ukraine and Russia will happen, but we don't know in what format: with mediators, without mediators, in a wide circle, at the level of presidents, bilateral conversation," said the president.
