Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is operating, but there are risks of violating radiation, fire safety standards - Energoatom
At 10:00 a.m. on August 29, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is operating with the risk of violating radiation and fire safety regulations
This was reported in Energoatom.
As noted in Energoatom, the two power units of the ZNPP, which were connected to the grid last week after being shut down, are steadily producing electricity for Ukraine's needs.
There are currently no comments on the operation of equipment and security systems. However, due to the presence of the Russian military, their weapons, equipment and explosives at the station, there are serious risks for the safe operation of the ZNPP. In particular, the infrastructure of the station has been damaged as a result of periodic shelling, so there are risks of hydrogen leakage and sputtering of radioactive substances. Fire danger is also high.
As Energoatom added, the Ukrainian staff of the station continues to work, making every effort to ensure nuclear and radiation safety, as well as to eliminate the consequences of damage. At the same time, it was recalled that, in preparation for the arrival of the IAEA mission, the occupiers increased pressure on the ZNPP staff - so that the employees would not divulge evidence about the crimes committed by the Russians at the station and its use as a military base.
"Ukraine calls on the world community to take immediate measures to force Russia to release the ZANP and hand over the power plant to the control of our state for the sake of the security of the whole world," Energoatom emphasized.
