Ukraine’s Defense Forces acquire 175 new vehicles since January
In the first nine months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved 175 vehicle models for use by the Defense Forces, including 76 produced domestically
The ministry's press service reported on October 9.
Colonel Volodymyr Rochniak, head of the Main Directorate for Life Cycle Support of Arms and Military Equipment, stated, “We're talking about more than just tactical vehicles or pickup trucks; it includes many types of equipment that are important for the Defense Forces.”
The approved vehicles include modern electric and gasoline motorcycles, ATVs, hexacycles, all-terrain buggies, amphibious vehicles, pickups, tactical combat vehicles, fuel tankers, cranes, mobile repair shops, backhoe loaders, technical assistance vehicles, evacuation trucks, mobile bath and laundry facilities, and various trailers and semi-trailers.
It was noted that more than half of the 175 new vehicle models were approved in the third quarter. Some of the new domestic models include the unique silent electric motorcycle Atom Military, six-wheeled Polaris hexacycles, the TAHA amphibious vehicle, the ten-wheeled ultra-high-terrain vehicle TAHA 3400, and the ultra-low buggy Varan, among others.
This year, foreign vehicles approved for use in the Defense Forces include MAN, IVECO, and SCANIA trucks, VOLVO and DAF tractors, PEUGEOT LANDTREK, TOYOTA HILUX, and MITSUBISHI L200 pickups, as well as CAT 428 backhoe loaders and DAEWOO pyrotechnic machines.
