We will always be first in line during possible clashes
For Poles, a strong Ukraine means no border with Russia
Normal countries always work within the civilized paradigm of lobbying for their interests and protecting their borders. Every country, even in this brutal and large-scale conflict, first thinks about its position and its citizens. This is normal. If you do it wisely, you benefit not only yourself.
The unusually active promotion of Ukrainian interests by Poles in the EU and NATO is easily explained: in addition to empathy and a desire to help, they are also guided by their own interests.
For Poles, a strong Ukraine means no border with Russia. If the country that is located between them and Russia is also in NATO, it is even better, meaning that Poland is moving to the deep rear of the likely future confrontation between Russia and NATO.

This is a win-win strategy - when normal cooperation leads to benefits for both employees.
We get protection and feel support behind us. But we can't have such joy as another buffer country between us and Russia. Because even if Russia hypothetically disintegrates, its strongest part is still on our side, and all nuclear weapons will most likely go to them.
Under any scenario, we will always be on the first line of possible clashes, because you cannot dig in Ukraine's perimeter and move it somewhere near Portugal.
Unfortunately.
