US supports conditions for negotiations with Russia named by Zelenskyy
The United States supports Ukraine's position that Russia, against peace negotiations in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law, continues to escalate the war in Ukraine.
This was announced by the spokesperson of the US State Department, Ned Price, during a briefing in Washington, writes Ukrinform.
"We believe, as do Ukrainians, in the establishment of peace. The establishment of peace that would respect the principles of the UN Charter regarding territorial integrity and sovereignty, would ensure the ability of Ukraine to protect its future, would ensure the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as attracting Russia's responsibility for attacking Ukraine and committing war crimes," said the representative of the US Foreign Ministry.
Price reminded that the President of Ukraine had personally spoken about readiness for negotiations on such principles.
According to him, if Russia wants such a dialogue, it must stop shelling and missile launches, stop its attacks and murders of Ukrainian civilians and destruction of infrastructure.
"But of course, the Kremlin is doing the opposite - it continues to escalate this war instead of showing a signal that it is ready and open to negotiations," the representative of the State Department emphasized.
Price also emphasized that the USA, NATO, and the European Union continue to adhere to the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine."
