Negotiations with Russia are not really possible - politician Feygin
Russian opposition politician Mark Feygin says that it is impossible for Ukraine and Russia to sit down at the negotiating table while two principles compete - the right of force and international law
He expressed this opinion in an interview with Antin Borkovskyi, host of the Studio West program on Espreso TV.
"There is insider information that Putin has been offered many times to stop mutual shelling, i.e., Russia stops shelling the territory of Ukraine, and Ukraine stops shelling the territory of Russia. Moscow has always refused. Always! So you are fighting on the front line and keep fighting. Let's define a zone, no more than 20-30 kilometers along the front line, but no more strikes on the territory of Ukraine, even in Kherson, even in Okhmatdyt, even in other places. Why not agree on this? Why not stop destroying the whole country? Putin does not agree. What does this mean? It means that he doesn't want any peace. He doesn't want any ceasefire, any end to the bloodshed," said Mark Feygin.
According to him, there is already information that a group of semi-loyal Moscow intellectuals is being formed, who are known to everyone, who travel to European capitals and form a non-governmental position of peace. This is all being launched by the Kremlin and Abramovich and his associates are tasked with it.
"Experienced Western allies understand this. To say that Washington does not understand this is ridiculous. Washington understands everything perfectly well, it just does something different. There is an understanding of the situation there. Another question is that it may be beneficial for the negotiation process to continue and for Putin not to fall completely. We have talked about this many times, because they are afraid of chaos, of a vacuum that may arise in connection with Putin's defeat. And it is not clear who will take his place, there is no predictable person. They are probably working on this issue, but they are not ready to take too fast and reactive actions to achieve the result of the same Victory Plan, as this will lead to chaotic consequences in Russia itself," the opposition politician commented.
In his opinion, the Kremlin is thinking about this more globally, for the long haul, so no one will agree to a simple ceasefire, but at the same time, they will not refuse to interact and try to find a compromise to start this peace negotiation process.
"I assume that some consultations could have taken place in Qatar. The parameters on which these negotiations will be based must be defined. The Ukrainian side, as well as the international community, has proposed a Formula for Peace, international law, and an understanding of international security. And since the bases have not been defined, the dispute continues - where are the red lines, so to speak, geopolitical realities, i.e., the right of force is being discussed. In fact, it is impossible to start negotiations, because two principles compete: the right of force and international law. Until they agree on this, it is impossible to sit down at the negotiating table," Feygin summarized.

- In addition, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that his country has no so-called peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, but is in contact with both Kyiv and Moscow.
