Ukraine's Special Operations Forces confirm strike on airfields in Luhansk and Berdyansk
On the night of October 17, Ukrainian defenders attacked Russian ammunition depot, helicopters and airfields near the Russian-occupied cities of Luhansk and Berdyansk
This was reported by the official telegram channel of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
The Special Operations Forces called this operation DRAGONFLY. They received information about the enemy's use of airfields in the temporarily occupied Berdyansk and Luhansk, as well as the presence of a significant number of aircraft, special equipment and ammunition.
"This information was verified and confirmed. The coordinates and necessary data were transferred to the Defense Forces units for striking. As a result of the attack on the night of October 16-17, the invaders suffered significant losses," the Special Forces wrote.
According to the latest data, 9 helicopters of various modifications, special equipment, an air defense launcher and an ammunition depot were destroyed in Berdyansk and Luhansk. The runways of the airfields were also damaged.
"The ammunition depot in Berdyansk had been detonating until 4 am. Detonation in Luhansk had been going on until 11 am. The enemy losses in manpower amount to dozens of dead and wounded. Bodies are still being removed from the rubble," the statement reads.

The strikes on the airfields were first reported by the Strategic Communications Department of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully attacked helicopters and airfield equipment of the Russian occupation forces near the temporarily occupied Luhansk and Berdyansk," the statement reads.

Over the last day, October 16, 53 combat clashes took place at the frontline. Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions.
