Ukraine's Foreign Ministry offers Germany to hand over Tornado fighters to Ukraine
Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk has offered Germany to transfer Tornado fighter jets planned for decommissioning to Ukraine
The deputy minister tweeted a "creative proposal" he had for the aircraft that are planned to be replaced by the F-35 fighter jets.
“I have a creative proposal to our German friends. The Bundeswehr has 93 Tornado multirole combat aircraft that will be decommissioned soon and replaced with the F-35. Though it’s an old jet fighter, it is still very powerful. Why not deliver these Tornados to Ukraine, Chancellor?” he wrote.
For reference: Tornado is a combat supersonic jet aircraft of the third generation with a variable sweep wing. It has long been one of the main combat aircraft of European NATO countries.
