Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Court sets precedent by confiscating sanctioned Russian oligarch's assets
Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court has confiscated the fortune of Kremlin oligarch Vladimir Yevtushenkov – the first such decision by a Ukrainian court
This was reported by the Ukrainian High Anti-Corruption Court press service.
On September 1, the Board of Judges of Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court fully satisfied the claims of the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice and decided to seize the assets of a Russian citizen, who was sanctioned by the decree of the Ukrainian President, as state revenue.
"This is the first decision on the confiscation of the property of a Russian citizen in Ukraine. Such confiscation, provided for by the law of Ukraine "On Sanctions", is of an exceptional nature and can be applied only during martial law to those persons who significantly contributed to the armed aggression against Ukraine", it is stated in the notice of the court posted on the Ukrainian High Anti-Corruption Court website without specifying the last name.
The court established a connection between the defendant's activities as the ultimate beneficial owner of a number of legal entities engaged in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Russian army and the fact of the use of such UAVs during the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.
Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Center reported more about this decision on Facebook.
Activists note that Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court confiscated 17 real estate objects with a total area of almost 100,000 square meters.
