Russians boost military logistics through Mariupol port — Ukrainian official
Dmytro Zabavin, a member of the Mariupol City Council, says that Russia is trying to increase the capacity of the city’s port to bolster military logistics to the temporarily occupied territories
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The occupiers are not using the port of Mariupol to the capacity they expect. They declare what they bring to the port as construction materials and humanitarian aid. However, we are all well aware that part of what they bring to the port of Mariupol is military equipment and weapons," said Zabavin.
The official also added that Russian forces use some building materials brought to Mariupol for the construction of defense structures.
"The Russians are trying in every way to hide the fact that they are delivering weapons to the port of Mariupol. Accordingly, they want to increase the port's capacity in order to bring in even more weapons for the war. Also, if we talk about the construction materials they transport to the port, some of these materials are indeed used to build new houses. However, they use the other part for the construction of defense structures in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine," he added.
