Russian FSB arrives in Kherson region to prepare for forced deportation of locals
In the Kherson region, Russian forces are setting conditions for the forced deportation of local residents to Russia. Also, FSB agents arrive in Kakhovka and Nova Kakhovka settlements
Deputy of the Kherson Regional Council Serhiy Khlan shared the information with Mediacenter.
"In Kakhovka and Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region, the occupiers are bringing in mostly FSB agents. They come from Dagestan. The number of Russian military personnel has decreased, and only Russian observation posts in the form of soldiers, located 15 km from the coast, have remained. The enemy has relocated the main forces 15-20 km deep into the Kherson region. But Russian equipment and observation points remain along the entire coast," Khlan said.
The deputy emphasized that Russian troops continue pressuring the local population to leave the territory, the same way they have done in Kherson. Following the recapture of Kherson, some residents are leaving the city due to constant shelling.
"The occupiers continue shelling the city of Kherson itself and the right-bank of the Kherson region. They are shelling absolutely all settlements located along the coast of the Dnipro River, striking critical infrastructure. Before the war, Kherson had a population of 320,000 residents and, according to an approximate estimate, only 80,000 remained after the de-occupation of the city. Now there is a considerable outflow of people from the city. Since the de-occupation, a small number have left as the evacuation has been going on for a short time. But there are many who are willing to leave," Khlan added.
Residents are offered evacuation routes by a daily train, supplemented with additional train cars, that goes to Khmelnytskyi, central Ukraine, as well as by buses.
