Solar panels will not save Ukrainians during winter blackouts - Union of Public Utility Consumers
Oleh Popenko, Chairman of the Union of Public Utility Consumers, noted that in winter, solar panels operate at 10% of their capacity
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"Solar panels will not save Ukrainians during winter blackouts. Our solar panels work no more than 10% in winter, in January and February. That is, if we take into account, for example, 30 days, there will be a maximum of 3-5 days of sunshine. And we need to provide ourselves with electricity for hours at a time," Popenko explained.
According to the head of the Union of Public Utility Consumers, the main problems with electricity in winter will be from 07:00 am to 11:00 am and from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
"From 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, we have no sun, and we need to provide ourselves with electricity at this time. That's why solar panels will not save Ukrainians from blackouts and the fact that they will be trapped in an apartment building without electricity," Popenko said.
