On January 23, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 2025 Oscars. Russian actor Yuri Borisov was nominated in the "Best Supporting Actor" category for his role in Sean Baker's film Anora.
"Russian actor and Putin supporter Yuri Borisov, known for his pro-Kremlin propaganda roles and illegal visits to occupied Crimea, is now an Oscar nominee," emphasized United24.
United24Media noted that Sean Baker's film Anora glorifies Soviet culture.
"Borisov supported Russia's annexation of Crimea and made several illegal visits to the peninsula. He regularly participates in Kremlin-supported campaigns and starred in the propaganda film 'AK-47,' part of which was also filmed in the temporarily occupied Crimea," added United24.
