Russian strike on Kharkiv hypermarket: police identify killed father by child's DNA
On Tuesday, March 28, police identified the body of a man killed in a Russian strike on the Epicenter construction hypermarket on May 25, according to the DNA of his eight-year-old son
The Kharkiv regional police reported this.
"The police found the father of eight-year-old Mykhailo. The body of the deceased was identified last night by DNA analysis, which was taken from the boy," the statement said.
The police said that on May 26, the child and his mother came to the headquarters of the investigative department, which was deployed near the destroyed supermarket. The boy could not wait for his father to return from work. They heard about the tragedy and came to the police the next day.
It is noted that DNA tests were taken from the child, as the boy is a direct relative of the deceased man.
According to police, the body found yesterday belongs to Mykhailo's father. 38-year-old Oleksandr worked in a supermarket, and on May 25, Russians killed him by launching two bombs at the supermarket in the middle of the working day.
The police emphasized that as of 06:00, they had identified 16 of the 17 dead bodies. Search operations are ongoing.
