Russia is preparing for IAEA Director General to visit Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant - Energoatom
Russia is actively preparing for IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi to visit the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (NPP). Russian forces, together with Rosatom representatives, are liaising with the IAEA about the visit
NNEGC Energoatom shared the details.
"What can the visit of the Director General or his representatives to ZNPP bring? Apparently, the only thing in the eyes of the world community is to legitimize the occupation of the station caused by the presence of nuclear terrorists. For the IAEA to arrive, record a safe radiation background and control over nuclear materials, approve the state of nuclear and radiation safety, and generally emphasize that everything is fine at nuclear power plants now. Like, all other issues are political, and the IAEA isn't involved in politics," commented Energoatom.
The state-owned enterprise emphasizes that the agency will accept the Russian authorities by accepting their invitation. Ukraine didn't invite the IAEA to ZNPP, first of all for security reasons.
"To come to ZNPP through Russia and then Crimea or other temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories under the protection of the Russian military without the will of Ukraine?! This would mean to ignore international law, to interfere in political issues, but on Russia's side. Also, to harm the agency as the world's leading nuclear safety institution, whose image is already quite questionable due to the lack of adequate response to acts of nuclear terrorism, including the Russian seizure of the Zaporizhzhya NPP," added Energoatom.
The only way to speed up the visit of the experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency is their clear position on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of ZNPP and the transfer of its control to the Ukrainian side.
