Russia bars Red Cross from entering occupied Olenivka colony
Russia has denied access to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Olenivka colony of the Donetsk region
The organization's press service announced this on Twitter.
"To clarify, yesterday's r equest for access to prisoners of war in the colony in Olenivka was not granted", it is noted.
It is known that despite the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Russia invited experts, specialists from the UN and the Red Cross to the site of the terrorist attack in Olenivka, Donetsk region, they currently do not have access to prisoners of war.
The organization noted that granting the ICRC access to prisoners of war is an obligation of the parties to the conflict in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
Earlier, the Ukrainian General Staff denied the accusations of the Russian Federation that the attack was launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the General Staff, the Russians tried to hide the torture and murder of prisoners of war.
Ukrainian intelligence believes that the killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka in the Donetsk region was organized by the mercenaries of the PMC Wagner on the personal instructions of Yevgeny Prigozhin, without coordinating it with the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
