People were beaten with sticks, electric shocks, houses were set on fire: volunteer describes Russian atrocities in Kharkiv region
Invading Russian forces entered every apartment or house. If they were bothered by someone or found something they didn't like, they took the person off in an unknown direction. Many people never returned
Ruslan Hvilia recently returned from the de-occupied territories and in the program Volunteers and War told the Espreso.West journalist about the atrocities committed by the Russians in the occupied territories.
"How they survived remains a mystery," Ruslan Hvilia says. "The situation is deplorable everywhere. Without light, water, food, and clothes. People told stories. When the Russians fled, they shouted that the Nazis were coming and would kill everyone. They offered to flee together. But in our country all people are patriots, so they stayed and met the Ukrainian soldiers with tears in their eyes and joy."
"One guy was found with ordinary binoculars. First, they cut off his ear in front of everyone, and then took him to an unknown direction"
According to the volunteer, people said that the Russians entered every apartment or house. If they did not like or were disturbed by something, they took the person in an unknown direction. Many did not return.
"Those who returned said that the Russians beat their legs with sticks and shocked them with electric currents," the volunteer continued. "They closed the houses completely so that it was impossible to leave, set them on fire and left. And one guy was found with ordinary binoculars. First, they cut off his ear in front of everyone, and then they took him in an unknown direction, and no one saw him again. They treated all the military, police, or anyone related to public service this way. They immediately took these people in an unknown direction and most of them never returned."
