Moscow's latest tricks: Russian soldiers shell ash pits at Zaporizhzhia thermal power station
Invading Russian forces are shelling ash pits at the Zaporizhzhia thermal power station to raise clouds of radioactive dust
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Telegram.
"The Russians are using a new method of creating the desired "picture" at the Zaporizhzhia thermal power station to manipulate public opinion and influence the world community. The mortar shelling of the suburbs of Energodar recently has a specific goal: the ash pits of the Zaporizhzhia thermal power station", the message reads.
It is reported that these are storage sites for ash generated during the operation of thermal power plants, the waste has a high concentration of toxic substances, and a radiation level that is at least 2.5 times higher than the natural background.
As a result of mortar strikes on ash pits, clouds of dust are formed, which are blown by the wind in the vicinity of Energodar.
"Monitoring of the radiation background, which is carried out near the nuclear plant, indicates an increase in the level of radiation. The Russian occupiers are trying to present these data as the results of mythical "strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces", it is noted.
