Security service foils Zaporizhzhya city center terrorist plot
56-year-old Dnipro resident planned a terrorist attack in Zaporizhzhya. His target: a crowded location, his weapon: a nail bomb disguised as a crutch
Ukraine's Security Service shared the details of the prepared attack on their Facebook.
"The attacker was a resident of Dnipro born in 1966. He wanted to sow chaos and panic in Zaporizhzhya and planned an attack on the crowded city center.
He made the explosive device himself and disguised it under a crutch. He installed a pyrocartridge, an explosive in its cavity, and to enhance the effect of the damage he filled the explosive with components such as nails and bolts," the statement said.
To deflect suspicion, two days before the planned terrorist attack, the man came from the western Ukraine to Zaporizhzhya. He didn't fulfil this plan as the Security Service exposed him in his underground hide.
"Investigative actions are currently ongoing, the detainee testifies, the scenario of possible Russian special services involvement in organising a crime is being considered," the press service added.
