Lieutenant General names number of Belarusian troops on border with Ukraine
There are about 1,800 Belarusian soldiers along the Ukrainian border from the Volyn to Chernihiv regions, pretending to conduct exercises
Commander of the AFU Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev reported this.
According to him, under the pretext of exercises, the Belarusian regime legitimizes the presence of its troops on the border with Ukraine.
"If the aggressor country made a decision at the presidential level to use the Russian armed forces, this legal action did not take place in the Republic of Belarus. It's one thing to launch equipment and soldiers of a hostile country on Ukrainian soil from its territory, but it's another to make a decision to use the Belarusian Armed Forces and definitely be on a par with Putin," Naiev said.
"So, in order to legitimize the presence of the Belarusian Armed Forces in the border areas and, accordingly, at the training grounds, instead of President Lukashenko making a legal decision on the use of the military organization, which is defined by their legislation, they constantly continue training and exercises. In this way, they are consolidating the presence of the Belarusian Armed Forces in the border areas with Ukraine," he added.
The general noted that the battalions deployed near the border have armored vehicles and some artillery units. At the same time, most of the troops are located in the depths of Belarus, Naiev said.
