Kyiv and 17 regions of Ukraine experience dire energy supply situation
According to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as of the evening of November 18, Kyiv city and 17 regions of Ukraine are enduring energy supply shortages
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed on the situation in a video address.
"Total of 17 regions and the capital of Ukraine are experiencing difficulties with energy supply. Kyiv region and Kyiv city, Odesa, Vinnytsia and Ternopil regions are in a very dire situation," said Zelenskyy.
At the same time, the president noted that, due to power engineers’ work, emergency shutdowns have decreased.
"Power engineers have been working around the clock to restore the normal technical capability of electricity supply. Thanks to their work, significantly fewer emergency shutdowns have been implemented today. As of today’s evening, in most regions that experience shutdowns, only stabilization hourly schedules are in effect. Emergency shutdowns were applied mostly in Odesa and in Kyiv," said Zelenskyy.
In addition, the president spoke about the opening of "Invincibility Centers" in Kherson, where people can charge phones, warm up and rest.
"Special centers have been opened in Kherson today called Invincibility Centers. Two are opened and more are coming. While electricity supply is being restored in the city, people can charge their phones, warm up, drink tea and get help. Phone and Internet connection are provided, there are Starlinks. We know that people are struggling, because the occupiers destroyed everything they could before fleeing. But we will reconnect everything, we will restore everything," Zelenskyy said.
