Olha Kosharna, an expert on nuclear energy, believes that IAEA Director General Grossi cannot write a positive report on the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP), because as early as August 6 he declared a violation of basic safety principles there.

She shared the details with Espreso TV.

"I know that the Russian occupiers have removed part of the military equipment from Energodar and strengthened posts on the approaches to the city. Shelling continues, but Russia has agreed to let the IAEA mission pass through the territory of Ukraine, as it should according to international law. Because the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is our property, it works under Ukrainian licenses, and personnel also have a license to manage Ukrainian reactor facilities. I know that the mission is being actively prepared by the Ukrainian side, and the program is being agreed upon. The representative of Russia at the IAEA said that the mission is planned for the beginning of September. I also predict this, because after September 10, the meeting of the Board of Governors of the IAEA will take place", the nuclear energy expert said.

Olha Kosharna noted that Ukraine had to put forward conditions for the organization of the IAEA mission at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, namely the absence of Russian experts in this delegation, which should include 16-18 experts together with representatives of UN military experts who will be able to assess the damage from the stay of Russian troops at the nuclear power plant. Also, the personnel of the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, who are citizens of the Russian Federation, should not have access to the preparation of the mission, and then to the final report.

"Regarding the fact that there were publications in the mass media about Grossi as a puppet of Russia, this is not the case. As far as I know, he got this position due to lobbying from the US. Besides, Grossi cannot write a positive report that everything is in order at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, because after the shelling of the station on August 6, he reported a violation of the basic safety principles at the nuclear power plant", Kosharna explained.
