German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck calls to allow other countries to transfer Leopards to Ukraine
Berlin should allow the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukrainians by other countries. Germany shouldn't disrupt the supply of heavy equipment to Ukraine because of its stance
German Welt daily reported this with reference to the statement of the German Minister of Economy and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck.
“There is a difference between making a decision for yourself and preventing others from making a decision...Accordingly, Germany should not stand in the way when other countries make a decision to support Ukraine, regardless of what decision Germany makes,” he emphasized.
Earlier, Politico noted that London's plans to supply Ukraine with Challenger 2 tanks will not change the position of the German government, but it is highly dependent on American President Joe Biden. In Berlin's opinion, the supply of tanks to Ukraine must be discussed “together with friends and allies, and especially with our transatlantic partner, the United States of America.”
