"Gatherings under the aggressor state's tricolor in the center of Europe are unacceptable": Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns pro-Russian rallies in Cologne, Prague
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned pro-Russian protests that were held in Germany and the Czech Republic
"The rallyists demanded an end to support for Ukraine and the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation. Calls were made that questioned the territorial integrity of our state, and fundraising was also announced to support illegal armed formations in the Donbas. Holding such gatherings under the tricolor of the aggressor state in the center of Europe is unacceptable. These activities had nothing to do with freedom of speech and real sentiments in Germany and the Czech Republic. We condemn the attempts of the participants of pro-Russian actions to justify Russia's war against Ukraine and to insult the honor and dignity of Ukrainians who defend freedom in Europe at the cost of their lives," Nikolenko wrote.
The Ukrainian side is also grateful to the residents of Cologne and Prague, who opposed the pro-Russian rallies on Sunday.
"We have no doubts about the solidarity of the absolute majority of Germans and Czechs with the Ukrainians, who provided hundreds of thousands of them with temporary shelter, and also support Ukraine and the policy of their governments to counter Russian aggression. The actions that took place on Sunday will not be able to shake the friendship between Ukraine, Germany, and the Czech Republic, whose support we highly appreciate," Nikolenko added.
