Evacuation from Sudan: 91 Ukrainian citizens are already in safety

This was reported by the press service of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

"As of April 26, 91 Ukrainians have already been rescued from the war-torn Sudan," the report says.

As part of the rescue operation, Ukrainian soldiers and diplomats also helped 51 foreigners to leave Sudan: citizens of Georgia, Canada, Peru and the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

64 Ukrainians who wanted to return home took a charter flight and landed in Poland in the evening: "The Ukrainians rescued by the Main Intelligence Directorate will soon cross the state border."

The evacuation from the African country continues.

"Ukrainians who need to be rescued because of the danger to life and health in Sudan will be provided with urgent assistance by official representatives of Ukraine," the intelligence emphasized.  

On April 25, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported on the evacuation of 87 Ukrainian citizens, including 36 SkyUp employees.

• Clashes between the Rapid Response Forces (RSF) and the regular army have been going on in Sudan since April 15. On that day, the army surrounded one of the bases of the country's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum, after which shooting began in the city. According to the military, this was the way they decided to stop the rebels.

• On April 18, it was reported that 20 planes were damaged at Khartoum Airport, including a SkyUp aircraft.

• The World Health Organization has stated that there is a risk of biological hazards, including the spread of measles and cholera, after the seizure of a laboratory in Sudan

• Despite the agreement on a temporary ceasefire, fighting resumed in some areas of Sudan.
