Europe faces a new reality – Ukrainian MP Knyazhytskyi from Paris
Ukrainian MP Mykola Knyazhytskyi shared his thoughts on the emergency summit of European leaders held in Paris on Monday, February 17
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Europe is now in a new reality. For a long time, Europe felt protected under the U.S. umbrella. Let me remind you, years ago at the Munich Conference, Putin said NATO should return to its 90s borders. In other words, Russia aims to control not just Ukraine but also Central and Eastern Europe," Knyazhytskyi explained.
According to him, U.S. statements have made Europe realize the serious threat it faces.
"We’ve heard that betraying Ukraine means betraying Europe. Europe is now doing everything to prevent this. It’s a bit late – this should have started in 2014. But these moves are positive for us because we’re part of Europe. Right now, Europe sees our defeat, God forbid, as its own. And that’s a big benefit for us," Knyazhytskyi said.
He hopes Europe will find the strength to unite and include Ukraine in this process.
"It’s also promising that not only the French but also the British are now talking about sending ground troops to Ukraine. This gives us hope for the future and shows that democratic nations will continue to back us," Knyazhytskyi concluded.
- On Monday, February 17, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other European leaders gathered in Paris for the emergency summit.
