Ukraine needs two things to prevent Russia’s northeastern advance — Achilles regiment
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of Ukraine's "Achilles" 429th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems, said that fighting continues in the Kupyansk region to prevent Russian forces from building up their capabilities to organize a river crossing
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Right now, the Russians are actively trying to set up crossings to supply their troops on the right bank near Novomlynsk and Dvorichna. They're trying to get them ammo, supplies, and reinforcements, including artillery and armored vehicles," Fedorenko explained.
He added that the fighting aims to prevent Russian troops from enhancing their ability to organize a crossing, and measures are being taken to hold them back.
"To stop the occupiers, two things are needed. First, the unity of the Ukrainian nation and ongoing support for the Armed Forces because that provides the resources needed for combat. Second, people — especially in the Defense Forces — because behind every weapon, sniper rifle, or drone is a motivated and trained person ready to carry out combat missions. The only thing standing between the enemy and your homes are the members of the Defense Forces," Fedorenko emphasized.
- On February 17, there were 139 combat clashes on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 55 Russian assaults in the Pokrovsk direction and 23 in the Novopavlivka direction.
- Andriy Besedin, head of the Kupyansk city military administration, noted that Russian forces are constantly shelling the city with all types of weapons.
