Russian UAV attack on Ukraine: Mother, two children injured in Kirovohrad region; debris sparks fires in Kyiv
On Monday evening, February 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with strike drones. A UAV hit an apartment building in Kirovohrad region, and debris caused a fire in Kyiv

Drone strikes high-rise in Kirovohrad region, injuring mother and two children
Kirovohrad regional and military administration reported the information.
“It was a difficult night for Kirovohrad region. A Russian drone hit a high-rise building in Dolynska. Three people were injured - a mother and two children. They were immediately provided with medical aid. The older girl did not need hospitalization. Residents of 38 apartments were evacuated,” the statement said.
Services were sent to the scene.
As the Kirovohrad Regional State Emergency Service later added, two apartments in the nine-story building caught fire due to a hit from a Russian drone. Two victims, a 5-year-old child and her 37-year-old mother, were hospitalized. Rescuers evacuated the residents of 38 apartments and extinguished the fire. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service were also on site to help the victims.
Russian drones also attacked Kropyvnytskyi district. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Falling debris in Kyiv
At 10:21 p.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration reported air defense operations in Kyiv. The Air Force warned of a threat from attack UAVs approaching the capital from the north.
“Air defense forces are working in the north of the capital,” Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote at 10:35 p.m.
Later, the mayor said that the wreckage of a Russian UAV had fallen in Sviatoshynskyi district.
“Preliminary, there is a fire on the territory of an industrial enterprise. Also, cars are burning in the yard of a residential building nearby,” the statement said.
At 1:25 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that air defense was operating in the region.
“We ask everyone to stay in shelters. Under no circumstances should you take photos or videos of our defense forces, the downing of air targets or their fall,” the statement said.
At 5 a.m., the air raid alert was canceled in Kyiv region. However, at 5:11 a.m., the air alert was announced again in the region.
