EU prepares 9th sanctions package against Russia - Ursula von der Leyen
The European Commission chief, Ursula von der Leyen, says that the EU is working on the 9th sanctions package against Russia for the war it unleashed in Ukraine
This was reported by The Guardian with reference to Ursula von der Leyen's statement.
“The European Union is pressing ahead with the ninth sanctions package on Russia in response to Moscow’s attack on Ukraine,” she said.
She added that the EU is already “working hard to hit Russia where it hurts to blunt even further its capacity to wage war on Ukraine.”
The head of the European Commission is also convinced that the EU will soon approve a global price cap for Russian oil.
“We will not rest until Ukraine has prevailed over Putin and his unlawful and barbaric war,” she added.
The deputy head of the Ukrainian President's Office, Ihor Zhovkva, emphasized that the next, ninth package of EU sanctions against Russia should include the disconnection of the rest of the banks from SWIFT network, price restrictions or a ban on gas exports, a ban on the entry of ships into Russian ports and the issuance of visas to Russians. Sanctions should also be extended to Belarus.
In addition, according to him, it is necessary to limit the price of Russian gas or introduce a ban on its export.
