EU plans to create a platform to coordinate Ukraine's reconstruction - von der Leyen
The EU intends to create a platform to coordinate action relating to the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war with the Russian Federation
This was reported by the BBC with reference to the statement of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the conference in Lugano.
The platform aims to determine the scale of losses and needs of Ukraine, as well as the amount of aid that the European Union can provide to the country.
"Since February 24, the European Union has allocated about EUR 6.2 billion in financial support. And it is ready to provide more. We will be significantly involved in medium- and long-term reconstruction," - the head of the European Commission promised.
According to her, Moscow's goal is the military, political, and economic destruction of Ukraine. Von der Leyen said that Russia wants to undermine the very existence of Ukraine as a state, and this cannot be allowed.
"I believe in the European future of Ukraine. You can change this country for the better, and this will be your final victory. Free and joyful Ukraine. Sovereign Ukraine, finally reunited with our European family," - she said.
