"Don't wait for disasters to make decisions": Zelenskyy calls on EU to sever relations with Russia over radiation blackmail
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the Ambrosetti Forum, has called on EU countries to sever relations with Russia due to its radiation blackmail
This was stated by President Zelenskyy during the Ambrosetti International Economic Forum.
"Ukraine is at the epicenter of Russian radiation blackmail right now. The Russian army seized the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant back in March and still holds it. It is the largest nuclear plant in Europe - it has six nuclear reactors", Zelenskyy said.
The Russian occupiers repeatedly fired at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant: "On the night of March 4, they fired at the station buildings from tanks, there is video confirmation."
Similarly, under the cover of the nuclear power plant, the Russians are shelling neighboring cities and regions in order to put pressure on Ukraine and Europe, the Ukrainian president emphasized.
"They want you to show weakness, to give up, and stop supporting Ukraine. That's why Russia is carrying out this radiation blackmail.
We must ensure full compliance with every promise to increase pressure on Russia to finally stop the radiation blackmail and guarantee the complete safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and four other large nuclear facilities in Ukraine. All words regarding the support of Ukraine with weapons, shells, and finances must be confirmed by actions while this war continues. Russia does not understand the words of peace, but it feels the power on the battlefield very well," Zelenskyy assured.
The President of Ukraine stated that the power should be with Ukraine and the free world.
"With sanctions, which the world applies as self-defense against Russia's aggression. The force should be with business, primarily in Europe. The reputation of none of the companies will withstand radiation sickness. Therefore, relations with the country that resorted to radiation blackmail should be immediately severed. And don't wait for disasters to make decisions. Go to predicted partners! Ukraine is just such a partner," Ukraine's leader added.
