Czech military leader suggests war between NATO and Russia is possible
Czech Chief of General Staff Karel Řehka has suggested the possibility of war between the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia. He considers this the worst-case scenario
He said this on May 29 at a conference on internal security and state resilience in the Chamber of Deputies.
“A war between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance, which is the worst-case scenario for us, is not impossible, it is possible,” Řehka said.
According to him, the country's armed forces are trying to prepare for a potential intense conflict, as Russia is now on a trajectory of conflict with the Alliance, and the Czech Republic is a NATO member and has certain obligations.
The Czech Chief of Staff also added that his country is taking into account the experience of Russia's war against Ukraine to strengthen national security and overcome dependence on Russian energy supplies.
