Civilians evacuated from 19 settlements in Sumy region due to constant Russian shelling
Volodymyr Artyukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, said that all residents of 19 settlements in the region have been evacuated: the process is ongoing
Artyukh said this on the air of the telethon.
"As of today, we have evacuated 3,726 people and about 700 children from the area. This process continues. 19 settlements are completely free of civilians and have been taken under military control, regulated by the military command," he said.
Mr. Artyukh also said that the border area of Sumy region suffers from Russian shelling. In particular, since the beginning of December, dozens of energy facilities have been destroyed, resulting in about 2,800 subscribers being disconnected from the general power supply system and another 120 from the gas supply system. Measures are currently being taken to restore the connection.
"But generally, they are in the 5-kilometer zone where the Russian enemy uses weapons. Unfortunately, we suffered losses during the restoration by brigades, regional power distribution companies and gas companies, so we are cautious about this. However, we are helping the affected communities with generators and doing everything we can," added the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
At the same time, as of 25 December, a significant increase in the number of attacks by Russia on settlements and energy facilities was observed in Donetsk region. As a result, mandatory evacuations from the region's settlements have been extended.
