2,500 Ukrainian babies born in evacuation in Poland - Olena Zelenska
Over 200,000 Ukrainian children have enrolled in Polish schools. 2,500 Ukrainian babies have been born to Ukrainian women evacuated to Poland.
First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska shared the details on her Facebook page.
She said that Poland has welcomed the most Ukrainian refugees, more than 3 million, and given them the right to healthcare and education. Poland also welcomed hundreds of Ukrainian children with cancer from Lviv for treatment.
"I discussed all this today with Ms. Agata Kornhauser-Duda, First Lady of Poland, in a video conference. She says she is proud of her compatriots who have 'opened their hearts and homes to their sisters and brothers' from Ukraine. She not only helps Ukrainians in Poland (the presidential couple even gave three of their residences to our citizens!), but also visited Ukrainian Chernivtsi and Kamyanets-Podilsky," she wrote.
Olena Zelenska also invited her Polish counterpart to become a patron of the 'Books without Borders' initiative, to provide refugee children with Ukrainian-langauge books, in Poland.
"Our publishers are providing book layouts and their foreign partners print them. I'm very pleased that she agreed. Lady Agata comes from a literary family and is a philologist herself so under her leadership everything will be as best as possible," wrote Zelenska.
