10 Russian army torture chambers are discovered in liberated Kharkiv region
10 torture chambers, set up by the invading Russian army for civilians, have been discovered in newly liberated areas of Kharkiv region
This was announced by the head of Ukraine's National Police, Ihor Klymenko, during a briefing.
"We can talk about the atrocities that took place in our cities. When we go to Balaklia or Izyum, we see a huge number of crimes committed against the civilian population. 10 torture chambers were discovered," he said.
He then mentioned two torture chambers of the Russian occupiers in Balaklia and six in Izyum.
According to Klymenko, one of the Balaklia torture chambers was located in the local police department. At least 40 people were held there in eight cells. They were in inhumane conditions, abused, and tortured.
Another Balaklia torture chamber was in the premises of the printing house.
"There was torture - we saw on people's hands traces of bare electric wires, through which current was passed when they were interrogated. Hammers and crowbars were found. Now we are conducting investigative measures to establish the extent of the injuries that people received," Klymenko said.
According to the head of Ukraine's National Police, riot police from the city of Togliatti, Russia's Security Service (FSB), servicemen of the so-called LPR and units of the Russian Guard operated in the torture chambers.
