Ukraine’s Digital Ministry and anti-graft body agree to donate funds from plea bargains to Drone Army
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office signed a memorandum that provides for the transfer of money to buy UAVs
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) informed about the agreement.
"The ongoing war has not only failed to halt our fight against high-level corruption but has also provided additional motivation for our work. Our priorities remain holding the corrupt accountable and supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Detectives and prosecutors are actively channeling resources from agreements between defendants and prosecutors to finance countermeasures against the aggressor," stated Oleksandr Klymenko, the head of SAPO.
In support of the Ukrainian military, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Under this memorandum, the funds obtained through agreements between prosecutors and defendants will be directed towards acquiring drones, equipment, and necessary supplies for the army.
In less than 5 months, the SAPO (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office) and NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) have already allocated UAH 650 million for the Ukrainian UAV army. These funds were used to purchase hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Army, along with a batch of BMP-2 vehicles for the Offensive Guard brigades.
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized the importance of drones in saving lives and staying technologically ahead of the enemy. The development of modern Ukrainian UAVs is a top priority, with state contracts being signed with numerous manufacturers and support being provided to newcomers in the market. This year is expected to be a breakthrough for the domestic market.
Throughout the full-scale war with the Russian Federation, SAPO, National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and The High Anti-Corruption Court have facilitated agreements and other mechanisms, resulting in over UAH 1.7 billion being transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
