Russian diplomacy will cease to be a game when Putin realizes he has lost Kherson - Ukraine's Former Ambassador to Austria Shcherba
So far, Russian diplomats are only ready to discuss Ukraine's capitulation in the war.
Oleksandr Shcherba, the former ambassador of Ukraine to Austria, said this on Espresso.
"Everything that was called diplomacy until now in this war was just a game. This sending of Medinsky, Slutsky and company to the first negotiations (after February 24, - Ed.) was a game to calm the world markets and prevent the collapse of the Russian economy, "he noted.
Shcherba said that Russian President Putin has now avoided this danger.
"Diplomacy is mentioned by them in one context - to discuss the implementation of their demands. This is essentially the capitulation of Ukraine. What kind of diplomacy and compromises are these? This is a completely different game, and diplomacy will cease to be a game for them only when Putin finally understands what he has lost Kherson, and tomorrow will lose even more. Then maybe something will start," the diplomat concluded.
