Situation in Ukraine' energy sector is under control, PM says
After a massive missile and drone attack by Russia on November 28, the situation in the energy sector is difficult but under control. The system retains its integrity
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
‘The attack resulted in a shortage of domestic generation. However, repairs at power facilities continue around the clock.
‘As of today, the situation in the energy sector is difficult, but controlled by Ukrenergo dispatchers. It is important that the system has maintained its integrity. The work to overcome the consequences of the attack does not stop for a minute. Power engineers, rescuers, sappers work 24/7,’ said Shmyhal.
Electricity imports from Europe also continue.
The Prime Minister reminded that businesses that import or produce 60% of their consumption on their own are not subject to power cuts.
Shmyhal noted that the government is also actively working with international partners. So far, the Energy Support Fund has raised more than €700 million. Germany has recently announced an additional package of €65 million to repair Ukraine's energy infrastructure. According to Shmyhal, this will allow creating a reserve of equipment, carry out repairs faster and return electricity to people's homes.
- Due to the damage to power facilities on November 29, power companies are applying one to three rounds of blackouts for households. For industry and business, the restrictions are in place throughout the day.
