Substation supplying three defense plants explodes in Yekaterinburg, Russia
On the night of March 2, an explosion occurred at the Kalininskaya power substation located in Russia's Yekaterinburg
This was reported on the morning of March 2 by the Russian state-run TASS news agency.
"An explosion and a bright flash were recorded near the building of an electrical substation on Shefskaya Street in Yekaterinburg. According to one version, it could have been caused by a short circuit," the report said.
At the same time, Russian Telegram channels, citing sources in the security forces, say it was not a "short circuit" but a deliberate explosion, and draw attention to the fact that this facility supplies energy to three defense enterprises: Kalinin Machine-Building Plant, Turbomotor Plant and Uralmash.
According to Mash Telegram channel, "a self-made explosive device went off".
"Probably, the detonation was timed. No one was injured. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating how the explosive device ended up on the territory of the enterprise," Mash writes.
The substation, as noted, is located within the Kalinin Machine-Building Plant.
"The station itself is fenced with a concrete fence, and the entrance to it is through a checkpoint," another social media provides details.
