Russia takes all missile carriers to base points due to storm in Black Sea
Due to the stormy weather in the Black Sea, Russia puts only part of its ships on combat duty, all missile carriers are at their home bases.
Natalia Humeniuk, spokeswoman for the Operational Command South, shared the information on the United News national telethon.
"The sea is on our side, because now the weather is really favorable, the storm is intensifying. Russia has brought most of the ship grouping to the base points, leaving only 3 units on combat duty out of 10 they left the previous day. And missile carriers are all at the base points," Natalia Humeniuk said.
However, the spokeswoman noted that the absence of missile carriers in the Black Sea should not be a reason to relax: they can be brought back in a couple of hours, once the bad weather subsides.
In response to the host's question about the number of possible launches from Russian ships, Natalia Humeniuk said that the Russian arsenal may have been reduced. "The maximum that we have recorded is the presence of 5 missile carriers with a total volley of up to 40 missiles. But we know that they had certain "problems" in the Sevastopol Bay. Perhaps they are not that capable anymore, but they could recover. Recently, the enemy kept about 20 Kalibr missiles on the alert".
She also noted that high-precision missiles are not Russia’s main weapon, but a means of dispersing Ukrainian air defense forces. Usually it launches Kalibrs to destroy Ukrainian air defense and critical infrastructure.
On December 20, a member of the Defense Committee of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada Yehor Cherniev said that Russia produces up to 30 Kalibr missiles per month using the components it has available.
