Russia suffers increasing number of casualties, losing 820 soldiers, 17 UAVs and 8 tanks within one day

Russia's army units in the Svatovo-Kreminna direction suffer a significant increase in losses. The wounded are being evacuated to Russian border towns. During one day of war in Ukraine, the Russian invaders have lost 820 soldiers, 17 UAVs and 8 tanks

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this data on August 9 on its Facebook page.

Total Russian combat losses from 02/24/22 to 08/09/23 were approximately:

personnel - about 251,620 (+820) people were liquidated

tanks - 4262 (+8)

artillery systems - 5013 (+17) 

MLRS - 711 (+2)

Russian losses on Svatovo-Kreminna direction. General Staff report

"Against the backdrop of successful combat operations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the casualties of the Russian occupation forces has been mounting. In particular, there is a dramatic increase in the number of wounded and killed servicemen of the Russian occupation forces on Svatovo-Kreminna axis," the statement says.

It is noted that special purpose medics of the 442nd District Military Clinical Hospital of the Russian Ministry of Defense arrived in the occupied city of Svatove in Luhansk region.

In particular, during the first week of August, about 500 occupiers with gunshot wounds of varying severity were sent from the Svatovo-Kreminna direction to a hospital in Belgorod. At the same time, in order to conceal the actual number of their losses at the front, the dead occupiers are sent to Rostov-on-Don.

Russian forces conducted 4 missile and 53 air strikes on Ukraine over the past day

It is noted that over the past day, Russian terrorists launched 4 missile and 53 air strikes, fired 86 missile attacks from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.

Over 30 armed clashes took place in the frontline. Situation in different directions 

The situation in the Northwestern direction remains unchanged.

In the Northern and Northeastern directions, the Russian invaders launched air strikes in the areas of Hremyachka and Leonivka in the Chernihiv region. They fired mortar and artillery shells at more than 30 settlements in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian troops are steadily holding the line and have repelled Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.

They launched air strikes in the areas of Synkivka, Kotlyarivka in Kharkiv region and Novoselivske in Luhansk region. More than 10 localities came under hostile artillery and mortar fire, including 5 localities in the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian invaders conducted air strikes in the areas of 1 locality in Luhansk region and 4 in Donetsk region. Russia's artillery shelling targeted 1 town in the Luhansk region and 4 towns in the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops are standing their ground, successfully repelling Russian attacks on the outskirts of Klishchiivka and near Zaitseve in the Donetsk region. The Russian occupiers launched air strikes in the area of 5 settlements in the Donetsk region. More than 15 localities suffered from Russian artillery shelling in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, being under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops near 3 settlements in the Donetsk region. The invading Russian forces launched air strikes in the areas of Sieverne and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. 5 localities in the Donetsk region were subjected to artillery shelling.

In the Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the area of Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. The Russian enemy carried out an air strike in the area of Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region. 4 settlements in the Donetsk region suffered from artillery shelling.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops made unsuccessful attempts to regain their lost position near Staromayorske in Donetsk region. They carried out air strikes near 3 settlements  in the Donetsk region. 6 localities in Donetsk region and 1 in Zaporizhzhia region were attacked by artillery fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russian invaders carried out air strikes near 2 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 localities came under artillery fire in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

In the Kherson direction, the Russian occupiers launched air strikes near Olhivka, Kherson region. More than 10 localities in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions were subjected to enemy artillery shelling, as well as the city of Kherson.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to lead offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 2 Russian control points and 5 artillery units

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 10 strikes on the areas of Russia's personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration.

Within the day, Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed 2 control points, 5 artillery units at firing positions, an ammunition depot and 2 Russian electronic warfare stations.

Ukrainian forces are making progress and advancing in the Tavria direction.
