EU to impose new sanctions on 90 companies helping Russia evade existing sanctions
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said that the EU will impose new sanctions, including restrictions on many foreign companies that help Russia avoid existing sanctions
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said this in an interview with ZDF.
The president of the European Commission said that the EU is serious about putting an end to Russia's avoidance of sanctions.
“And that is why in the 11th sanctions package we have more than 90 companies around the world for which we have clear evidence that they are violating sanctions, that is, supplying sanctioned goods directly to Russia from the European Union, bypassing third countries,” Ursula von der Leyen said.
It is noted that among them are about eight companies located in China, but this does not mean that they must be Chinese companies.
“These are companies that exist partly on paper and have owners who come from other countries. But they are registered in China, and here we will be clear,” the president added.
