EU leaders Brussels summit to discuss tougher Russia sanctions — Espreso correspondent
Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska notes that the leaders of the 27 EU member states gathered for a summit in Brussels on Thursday, October 26
She shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Today the European Council summit begins in Brussels. The summit has a lot of plans. The first issue on the agenda is Ukraine. The EU wants to send a political message to Ukraine that Ukraine is not forgotten, Ukraine is not fading into the background and Ukraine will be supported until it defeats Russia. During the summit, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be broadcast live," Vysotska said.
According to the Espreso correspondent, the summit of EU leaders will discuss the issue of providing Ukraine with EUR 50 billion of assistance over the next 4 years.
"Sanctions against Russia will also be discussed. The next 12th package of sanctions will include Russian diamonds, Russian aluminum and dual-use goods. It is quite possible that the new package of sanctions will include certain measures against third countries that help Russia avoid the sanctions already imposed," Vysotska added.

Olha Stefanishyna says that there are some unfriendly countries that downplay Ukraine's progress towards the EU, but she believes that the country will be able to reach a good political decision on accession in December.
