Center for Countering Disinformation publishes Russian fakes for February 8
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a compilation of misinformation that Russia produced on February 8
Espreso TV reported on the compilation.
According to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, on February 8, Russia initiated 3 major deceptions.
Fake news: Russian media reported that "Russian security forces became aware of a scheme to evade conscription in Ukraine."
"A recruit must pay a USD 10,000 fee to a military commissar who later enrolls a recruit in a volunteer organization that operates at each recruitment center. ... The volunteer is obliged to collect donations from citizens for the army and pay 5-10% of the collected amount to the military commissar."
Disinformation: Former Member of Ukrainian Parliament Viktor Medvedchuk stated that "It is important for the US to maintain Kyiv's pro-American vector to cover its political bankruptcy."
Manipulation: Russian media reported that "German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has expressed uncertainty that Ukraine will be able to regain Donbas and Crimea," but his words were taken out of context. In fact, when asked about the return of Crimea and Donbas, he replied:
"It's like looking into a crystal ball. Ukraine is fighting very bravely. It is extremely important that we continue to support it as much as we can."
