Ukrainian intelligence tests new Ukrainian SpyGun drone in combat zone
After conducting tests in the rear, the Defense Intelligence transferred the new Ukrainian SpyGun reconnaissance drone to the combat zone for testing
This was reported by the press service of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR).
The SpyGun drone is designed for far-away scouting, and it can also help aim artillery if needed.
This setup includes two drones and a control station on the ground.
The military mentioned that because of its modern radio control system, which is really good at resisting electronic interference, the spying drone can work from up to 50 km away.
The SpyGun drone can fly back to where it took off automatically, and its aerodynamics mean it can glide along its chosen path without the engine running, which saves the battery.
It's also almost impossible to see when it's up in the sky. The drone can stay in the air for 2 to 2.5 hours without landing. It can go as high as 1500 m and work well at 500-600 m, while its top speed is 90 km/h.
It records photos and videos on a GoPro that's on board.
"The SpyGun UAV is pretty cheap and easy to make because of its simple design. This design makes the SpyGun hard to spot when it's in use," emphasizes the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
It is highlighted that the drone was created by Ukrainian engineers and designers, thanks to the effort of entrepreneur and volunteer Yuriy Holyk and tennis player and Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Serhiy Stakhovskyi.
