Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive: acting Kherson mayor urges civilians to stock up on water, food for 5-7 days and to prepare bomb shelters
Kherson City Council secretary, acting Kherson Mayor Galyna Lugova has called on city and region residents to evacuate or stock up on water, food and prepare bomb shelters due to an expected counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Radio Svoboda shared the news.
"It is necessary to leave, because we will untie the hands of our military so that they can move more freely around the city. I understand that our boys are good men and can do some jewelry work. But, if we give a certain opportunity, so us, Kherson residents, will be less in the city. This is the safety of people. And no matter how brilliantly the guys try to fulfill their task - to liberate Kherson from the Russian army, of course, there will be certain destruction, there will certainly be some outbreaks of fire. We must take care of people's safety. It would be very good if people who have such an opportunity left the territory of our city, our Kherson region," Lugova emphasized.
For those who cannot evacuate, she recommended stocking up on food and water for at least 5-7 days.
"There are various life situations that do not allow leaving a place. People should provide shelter and prepare basements, stock up on water and food, at least for 5-7 days, so that they feel in a more or less safe place," added Lugova.
