Ukraine's Security Service shows new drone to destroy Russian ships in Black Sea
This is the second surface drone in the assets of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU)
This is reported by TSN with reference to the SBU.
The Ukrainian Security Service has unveiled its new Kozak Mamai surface drone, which, along with other surface platforms in service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, is involved in operations against Russian ships in the Black Sea and in the destruction of the Crimean bridge.
Little is known about this drone - it has already been used to strike Russian ships and is "the fastest object in the Black Sea," reaching speeds of 110 km/h. It is 6 meters long and has a surveillance camera and satellite system on top of the platform. The drone is made of bulletproof material to make it more difficult for Russian forces to destroy such platforms during an attack.
As the SBU head reminds, unmanned surface platforms are currently being mass-produced in Ukraine, with production located at an underground factory.
The Sea Baby was first reported in the summer of this year; it was used, among other things, to strike the Crimean bridge and can have a warhead of 850 kg.
"This is not just a maritime drone, it is a multi-purpose platform that is being used very successfully today," the SBU chief said.
During 2022-2023, the Security Service regularly conducted strikes on various Russian ships, including:
- Project 11356R frigate Admiral Makarov;
- Project 1239 Samum hovercraft missile ship;
- patrol ship of the 22160 project Vasily Bykov;
- landing ship Olenegorsky Gornyak
- tanker SIG;
- tugboat Nikolay Moore;
- reconnaissance and hydrographic ship Vladimir Kozitsky.
