Ukraine is better prepared for possible invasion from Belarus than year ago - State Border Guard Service
Ukraine is better prepared for a possible invasion from Belarus than it was a year ago. However, there are currently no signs of preparations for an offensive from the neighboring state
The head of the State Border Guard Service, Serhii Deineko, said this in an interview with Ukrainian media.
"No fortifications can completely stop the enemy. They will be able to suspend and slow down the pace of its offensive. That is why they are being built. So that when the enemy approaches our fortifications and is forced to carry out the appropriate work, we can strike at him and disrupt his plans. If we take into account what has been done this year, we are much better prepared for a possible re-invasion from the territory of Belarus, and in any direction," he said.
At the same time, Deineko emphasized that he currently sees no threat from Belarus, but this does not mean that the situation cannot change, for example, in two weeks.
"If in two weeks I see the development of the situation, our intelligence works, we receive the enemy's plans, maps, schemes, and the plan for an offensive operation, I will have to prove my conclusions to the top military and political leadership," the head of the SBGS explained.
The enemy does not have the strength to successfully conduct an offensive operation in Ukraine, he emphasized.
"If they try to come here from Belarus, they will all stay here, there is no doubt about it," Deineko assured.
