Russian occupiers take convicts from Kherson prisons to left bank of Dnipro and Crimea
Russian occupying authorities took convicts from Kherson prisons to the left bank or Crimea, and when retreating released detainees from pre-trial detention centers
This is reported by Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice.
Institutions of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region are in a state of restoration of control and organization of activities.
Currently, the territories and objects of institutions are being inspected for mining and damage, loss of property. The convicts were taken out of the institutions by the occupation authorities and are partially located in the territory of the left bank of the Kherson region or taken to Crimea.
Prisoners from the Kherson pretrial detention center were released during the retreat of the occupying forces and are now being returned to the centers. Some of them appealed to the police authorities to detain them and determine their procedural status, some returned to the detention center on their own.
Most of the personal files of the prisoners are kept in the pre-trial detention center. Together with the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office, work is ongoing to recover all information about the prisoners.
Prisoners who are already in pretrial detention centers and their status has been confirmed will be evacuated to other detention centers outside the Kherson region.
