Ukraine will likely be forced to pause in war in year - politician Rybachuk
Former Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Oleh Rybachuk believes that if Ukraine is forced to pause in the war, Putin will have several years to rest and regain strength
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
"It seems we're being pushed towards a situation where Ukraine will be forced to pause in the war, just like Putin. Trump has mentioned this. If we don't specify details like borders and conditions, there's a real chance we could end up in a 'frozen' conflict. Ukraine will have a few years to grow stronger than Russia. However, during this time, Putin could also regroup - leveraging support from Koreans, Chinese, and acquiring new equipment," Rybachuk explained.
"Everyone knows Putin's intentions; he demonstrates them. But the bigger concern is what happens in Ukraine during this pause," the politician continued.
"I'm deeply concerned about this. The first thing we will do is rush into the election race. Yermak's people need to stay in power. They will do everything to make us quarrel with each other, and we are guaranteed to quarrel. In the three or five years that we have to become a strong country, even without Russia's military intervention, we risk imploding from within. This is the threat of the very distorted system of government that exists in Ukraine today," Rybachuk concluded.
- Former US President Donald Trump, if he wins the election, may cut off US military aid to Ukraine if there are no talks with Russia, Reuters reports.
